Michigan J Frog (Host) - Looney Tunes
This is a big, big honour to be included, so thanks to Judd/Sasquatch for thinking of me. Sasqwatch will hold a special place in my heart for a number of reasons - from Judd just being a gun host to it being my first ever ORG win. If you haven't played before, just sign up at the next available opportunity. You have to live it.
This may be forgotten lore, but I actually named Sasqwatch. I think Judd was about 2 games in when he asked the Aus Stranded community to come up with a name for his game series. I believe Katie came up with Sasquest and then I came in with Sasqwatch and I won naming rights. The prize was supposed to be a bonus in-game idol that I'm still waiting to receive.
As for playing, I wasn't very experienced when Judd asked me to play season 3, which was Prison Break. I'd never watched the show but was keen to do a gangsta schtick for lols so I was assigned to be C-Note. Mainly because I had found this Ebonics Translator and thought it was hilarious. So after using it for a couple of days it became pretty much secun' naycha ta jus' be all talkin' lyke dis, ya dig mu'fucka? Needless to say, I was an annoyance to my tribe and probably would have gone first had Brenda not also been there doing a Spanish schtick and pretending she couldn't speak English. I ended up lasting the tribe, the swap and the merge and finished 8th, but I never had the numbers truly on my side to be able to make a run at it, and I was expendable to the powers that be when William Kim (Duck) played his idol. I had a pretty massive rivalry with Kim in-game, neither of us liked each other (although not many liked Kim) but ended up voting for him as he lost in the end to Lechero.
C-Note was to return, however, for All-Stars, and I managed to be fairly well placed most of the pre-merge, having a strong alliance with Tony (Shii Ann). After the tribe swap, we had a good thing going with Habib (Butch) and Rachel (Rudy) but unfortunately, despite me not wanting to, we needed to cut Rachel before the merge in order to preserve pre-swap trust with Peyton (GB) had we voted off Mr. Big (Alexis). We were going ok through the post-merge, teaming up with other alliances to take out some power players (including Big) but it would be eventual winner Goodhead (Rafe) who sank us in voting out Habib and I kinda raged on her about it. I tried to get Tony to go along with Vaughn (Rupert) and Burrows (Boston Rob) to force a tied vote, which I still maintain was their best play as they were pretty easily picked off after I got booted at 8. Unfortunately, Tony played it safe to try and last further while Vaughn and Burrows... well, they're none too bright to put it nicely. They were easy fodder for the rest after I went.
Despite not having a real crack at the end game, I'd enjoyed my Sasqwatch experience enough to call it a day. It's as demanding as it is fun, so I lurked the next season, which was South Park and discovered I really am a terrible lurker. Then Judd has to go and make the next season a Game of Thrones theme. I signed up pretty early (from memory) but all the characters I were after were taken. I was initially cast as Drogo but I believe Dawson dropped and I was able to pick up Margaery as my rep. Was offered Tyrion and Joffrey at different stages, but I was planning to play hard and I didn't want their reputations weighing on me. I would have felt obligated to be much more in character with either of those (similarly, I would have with Drogo).
Sasqwatch Game of Thrones would turn out to be my finest performance. I was at the absolute top of my game, and while there were a few bumps along the way, it is the game I am most proud of. History shows it to be my first ever win and one that circumstances caused it to be shared with Mike (who was playing Davos) but that actually, in a way, kind of made it a bit more special. Mike had PM'd me quite a while ago and said he was hoping we'd get to play together at some point, and despite neither of us knowing who the other was, we ended up doing so in this and being co-winners. It was an absolute honour to share the spoils with Mike, and I think he kind of stepped back a bit to let me have my moment in the sun at the time, as well, which is something I really appreciate.
The game also introduced me to another who I absolutely adore, with kzonex/Ashley playing as my in-game confidant Shae. We actually didn't have a big connection in the first half of the game, as my main allies were Ygritte (Candice) and Daenerys (Amber). Shae was more of a "part of the women's alliance" add-on, but when those two girls blindsided us at the Final 9 by booting Drogo (Duck), Shae and I came together and became extremely close. To be part of that relationship in the second half of the game was very special to me, and is a friendship I continue to treasure. This game also gave me some absolutely pleasurable tribal council moments, first when we flipped to vote with Davos and Bronn (Randy) and blindside Tyrion at the Final 8. But my personal favourite was the Final 7 vote, where I was able to engineer it so Davos and Bronn had to vote off Jon Snow (Rudy), despite not wanting to. I took a great amount of personal satisfaction from that, and no doubt cemented Jon Snow to not vote for me in the end.
Following GoT, I helped Judd host his next season, which was Looney Tunes. Part of me wishes I could have played it as well, because we made it as crazy as we could for the players. ACME crates were a must and I had a heap of fun making those for the game. I also had the idea of the Red Button, which was hilarious because the players couldn't get enough of it. Good times.
Once again, this is a huge honour to even be considered to be part of a Hall of Fame. It's been a blast playing and hosting the seasons I was involved with and thanks again to Judd. He really strives to make games that are immensely fun and crazy as fuck, and to be considered in the same breath as Parvati and Rafe for their efforts, and also my fellow inductee(s) this year, is something I'm very humbled by. And to those who haven't played a Sasqwatch game before, all I can say is: What the fuck? Why not???
